Independence Day is a time of celebration which always ends on a very loud note with fireworks lighting up the sky!
The festivities are dazzling and exciting for us, but for those of us with pets, a reminder, it’s also important to remember that the fireworks displays can be quite frightening to them. From an article that I just read... "More dogs go missing during the July 4 holiday than any other time of year, and July 5 is one of the busiest days for animal shelters..." That's according to a press release from PetAmberAlert. The article also links to a handy list of tips to keep your dog safe on the Fourth of July. If you have pets at home, these tips can be invaluable to keeping them safe and sound during the festivities.
Another interesting article that I found is on Vegetarian recipes for the 4th of July. Many today are opting for alternatives to the traditional menu options and this article popped out at me. As for me, my idea of a great July 4 meal is a burger at Ercoles on Manhattan Avenue, in Manhattan Beach. This cool and local dive bar has been rated as one of the top bars with one of the best burgers that you can find. No joke. You won't find any better!
